  1. In Salt Lake City I found a cemetery listing of Pike Co,IN Washington twp graves with a lot of Blackburns. no dates.
I also have the History of Pile Co,IN 1987 with no listing for Blackburn or French but there is a Vinson France family who came to IN before the Civil War, settling a mile north of Scottsburg. Vinson married Lucy Slater, 8 children:
Wm,Thomas,Nancy Ellenm reed,Martha Jane m. Arnold,Enos,Vinson,Walker, and Lucy m Le Masters.Let me know if any of these names click. Linda

  2. DNA French Testees, please identify yourself . . .

Every testee needs to go on their DNA web page by logging in with their kit number and password here: https://www.familytreedna.com/
Then look under Y-DNA and click on "Matches"
Then under "My Account", click on "User Preferences"
At the bottom of that page, you will see a box for "Paternal Side"
Please enter a short description of your line there. It will immediately appear on this website:
    http://www.familytreedna.com/public/french/default.aspx?section=yresults

Only then can we learn more about your ancestry and help you find a connection.

    Regards,
    Mara French

  3. Several DNA tests match each other and are grouped together as DNA Test Group 4. The only definite thing that DNA can show is that all the males in Group 4 are related i.e., descended from a common male ancestor. The testee of FFA Chart #23 had 12 at DYS607 as do the testees of FFA Charts #186, #31, and #193 which may be more closely related to each other than the other four who have a 13 at that marker. The testee of FFA Chart #23 is the only one who has a 15 in DYS437, whereas all others have a 16. FFA Chart #23 is one mutation off from FFA Chart #194 in DYS511. Also, FFA Chart #23 is one mutation off from FFA Charts #10 and #136 at DYS389II. Therefore, the closest matching tests to FFA Chart #23 are FFA Charts #186, #31, and #193. It might be profitable to research the ancestry of these 4 charts in Kentucky to find a possible connection.

  4. We note that Isaac French is most closely connected thru DNA with FFA Charts #186, #31, and #193. Reviewing FFA Chart #31, Henry and Elizabeth (Ersom) French, we note that they had a daughter named Polly or Mary French who was born 1 Dec 1776 in Mercer Co., KY. She “may” have traveled to Detroit with Isaac ca. 1792 and then returned to Kentucky by 1800 when she married John Godhart Smick / Smock. Another indication of this situation could be the fact that she, Mary Smick/Smock, named a son Isaac. We note that in FFA Chart #186, Philip French named a son Isaac. Philip French was born on 3 Mar 1790 in Kentucky, the same year that Peter French was born, Isaac’s son.
